Welcome from Mrs Robinson, Headteacher

Well, I cannot believe we are heading into the final week of the half-term! I continue to be incredibly proud of the children and staff at Grove, especially with the wonderful standards of presentation across the school—the children are working so hard to use their best handwriting at all times.

This week, it was a pleasure to welcome Mrs Toach from Birches Head High School to Grove. As we walked around, she was thoroughly impressed by the learning on display, and we discussed some exciting opportunities to build stronger links between our schools. I am also looking forward to visiting Birches Head during Autumn 2.

Looking ahead to next week, please remember to sign up for our Spooky Balls and our pumpkin competition – I can't wait to see all the creative entries! Our community top-up shop competition is also still running, so do get involved if you can. Additionally, we are hosting our 'New to Year 3' session on Tuesday 20th October from 3:00 to 4:00pm. This is an informal, open-door event for prospective parents and pupils to explore the school and try out some fun activities. Please feel free to pop along or spread the word to anyone with a child due to start Year 3.

On the uniform front, while we await final confirmation of our new supplier, we are purchasing the remaining stock and will be selling items directly at Grove—more information on how to order will follow shortly. Also, please do follow, like, and share our content on Facebook as we work to improve our digital presence. Please make sure your permissions are updated on Arbor so we know if we have consent to share photos of your child.

Finally, we have recently had a few online safety concerns brought to our attention. I kindly ask that you check your child's phone regularly to ensure their group chats reflect our value of 'show you care'.

Thank you as always for your continued support - have a lovely weekend!

Build update

We’ve got some exciting news to share! This week, we met with our builders and contractors to organise plans for Phase 1 of our playground redevelopment: a brand-new MUGA! While ordering timescales means we can't start until the new year, we promise it’s going to be worth the wait.

The contractors site team will begin their site preparations just before Christmas, ready for full works to begin the first week back in January. Phase 1 is expected to be fully complete by February half-term, and Phase 2 will be going out to tender very soon with hopes of starting shortly after Phase 1.

Unfortunately, there will be some playground disruption, including temporary changes to arrival and dismissal gates, but we'll share those details closer to the time.

We are sooo excited to see this project start!

Also, during the half-term holiday, work will begin on the redevelopment of our sensory room and brand-new intervention area. This project will take approximately two weeks. I look forward to sharing week 1’s progress when we return from the half-term break!

Attendance matters

Here is how we did last week:

  • Best Day's Attendance: Wednesday 97.8%

  • Whole School Weekly Attendance: 96.8% -

  • Trust Leaderboard: We are currently in 7th place! Let's see if we can climb even higher next week.

  • Attendance Champions: Huge congratulations to 4GC for having the highest attendance this week with 100% followed closely by 4AM at 99.5% - both classes have earned an extra playtime!

Every day counts – let's keep this momentum going!

Did you know?

Primary pupils with no absences are over twice as likely to reach the expected standard in reading, writing, and maths at Key Stage 2 compared to pupils who are persistently absent (missing 10% or more of school).

Competition time

As the new Community Top up Shop is currently being developed we need your help. We need two new signs to be designed. There will be a prize for the two winners which will be judged by Two Local Councillors Adrian Knapper and Luke Shenton. Entries need to be handed into the office by 5th November. It can be anything Community related theme and must have “Top up Shop” as the name.

Good luck we can’t wait to see the children’s ideas and designs.
