This week, our Year 6 children were buzzing with excitement as we celebrated World of Work Week – a fantastic week full of activities designed to help children explore different careers, discover new skills, and imagine their futures!

Throughout the week, children became career detectives, interviewers and even job applicants as they stepped into the world of work.

Monday: "What's My Role?"

The week began with a mystery! Children met a range of adults and visitors dressed in everyday clothing and used their detective skills to ask questions and guess their jobs.

From asking about daily routines and skills needed, to discovering what each person does, children enjoyed finding out more about the world of work. The big reveal at the end was a highlight as visitors showed their uniforms and revealed their careers!

Tuesday: Discovering New Possibilities:

On Tuesday, children took part in exciting sessions delivered by Circana, where they explored careers, skills and the different pathways people can take to reach their goals.

The sessions encouraged children to think about their strengths and the many opportunities available to them in the future.

Wednesday: Career Fair Fun

Our school hall was transformed into a busy career fair! Children visited stalls, meeting people from a wide range of professions.

They asked fantastic questions about:

• What a typical day looks like 
• Skills needed for different jobs 
• How people get into their careers 
• What qualifications and training might be needed.

It was brilliant to see children confidently speaking with visitors and learning about so many different careers.

Thursday: Applying for a school job

Thursday gave children the chance to experience the recruitment process for themselves!

Every child completed an application form for a school role and took part in an interview. They had to think carefully about their skills, explain why they would be a great candidate, and show confidence during their interviews.

Who knows..... we may have some future teachers and leaders among us!

Friday: Celebrating Our Learning 

We finished the week by celebrating everything the children had achieved. Children reflected on their experiences, completed their final activities, and shared their thoughts about their careers and their futures.

A huge thank you to all the visitors, volunteers, families, and staff who helped make World of Work Week such a memorable experience.
