Welcome from Mrs Robinson, Headteacher

I can’t quite believe we are creeping into Week 7 next week—how on earth can that be?! Time is absolutely flying by this term! Before we know it, our annual Spooky Ball will be here.

This year's Spooky Ball will take place on Thursday 22nd October, from 3:00pm to 4:00pm for Years 3 and 4, followed by Years 5 and 6 from 4:15pm to 5:15pm. Entry is £3, which includes a drink and sweets to sink your teeth into. We will also have small souvenir items available to purchase on the night for 50p or £1, so please send your little pumpkins along with some loose change if they would like to buy a treat. Entry tickets can be purchased on Arbor, and we can't wait to see the children looking spook-tacular in their Halloween outfits!

We will also be hosting our annual pumpkin competition, with a prize awarded during the Spooky Ball for the best design—it’s time to give ’em pumpkin to talk about, so let’s see how creative you can be!

On a less spooky note, uniform orders have now been received from the shop and are currently being handed out. Please let us know if you have anything on order that is missing. We are currently looking into future suppliers and will update you as soon as we know more.

Have a lovely, relaxing weekend!

School Council Take Over

Hello everyone! We’d like to introduce ourselves as your new school counsellors. We’re here to help make school a welcoming place for everyone to learn by being a supportive friend and giving you a space to share any worries, ideas or concerns you might have.

We also want to say how much we loved the recent Watch Me Learn event! It was fantastic seeing so many parents eager to support their children and learn more about how we grow as students.

Good luck to the Grove Cross Country team in their upcoming events – we're cheering you on! Finally, don't forget about the upcoming Spooky Ball. Wishing everyone a safe and happy Halloween!

Maths watch me learn

What a fantastic turn out for our Maths Watch me Learn event this week! It was amazing to see so many parents engaged in our maths lessons - we hope you found it useful and enjoyed the opportunity to work alongside your children!

Here's what some of you said;

'It was great to watch how Maths is being taught in two different year groups. Thank you for the opportunity to understand how my daughters are learning!'

'It was lovely to join and see how the class learns. The way Mya was speeding through the questions shows a great understanding and how much she's taking in. Thank you for the opportunity and I look forward to the next time we're invited in'

Attendance matters

Yesterday, we won an FFT attendance award, for our amazing whole school attendance last year. We were in the highest 10% of similar primary schools and above national figures. Well done Grove.

This year we are currently 0.9% above primary national data. Another huge well done to you all. Let's keep this great attendance up!

Here is how we did last week:

  • Best Day's Attendance: Wednesday 97.8%

  • Whole School Weekly Attendance: 96.9% -

  • Trust Leaderboard: We are currently in 9th place! Let's see if we can climb even higher next week.

  • Attendance Champions: Huge congratulations to 4AM for having the highest attendance this week with 100% followed closely by 4GC at 99.2% - both classes have earned an extra playtime!

Remember every day counts.

Did you know?

95% attendance equals approximately 6 days of absence and 90% attendance equals 4 weeks of absence from school.
