Welcome from Mrs Robinson, Headteacher

This week saw us complete our first parents' evening of the year. There was a lovely buzz around school on the evening, a mixture of anticipation and pride. Don't forget, if you haven't already done so, to complete our short parent survey, which can be found here.

As part of parents' evening, lots of you managed to resolve with us any remaining Arbor access issues or complete any outstanding FSM applications. Just a reminder, we are here to help, so if you still require any support with these processes, let us know. Don't forget, ALL parents should complete the FSM application even if you don't believe you are entitled. You can do so by clicking here.

The halls have been ringing with the sounds of "Cauliflower Fluffy", which can only mean one thing: Harvest is around the corner. Our Year 3 children are leading this assembly and all Year 3 parents should have received a form to sign up to the event. For everyone else, you can still help to celebrate Harvest by bringing in donations. All donations will be going towards our very own community shop (which will be opening very soon) and will support the families at both Grove and Northwood.

Thank you for your support with our changes to arrival. We hope you find it safer to wait on the school grounds. As a reminder, gates will open at 8.15am, but school will not open until 8.20am. Please remain with your child (unless they have permission to walk home) until school opens.

As always, thank you for your continued support!

Before and after school club (BASC)

Don't forget we have our amazing on-site before and after school club, with places available for all children who attend Co-op Academy Grove and Northwood. We know how important it is to offer this service, so please do make use of it.

Morning sessions start at 7.30am and cost £5, and afternoon sessions run until 5.45pm and cost £11. Mrs Glover and Mr Okoh can't wait to see you at club!

Attendance matters

I love the excitement attendance creates in our weekly assemblies. The leader board is a big hit with the children and teachers. They eagerly await finding out if they have the top spot, and it is getting ever more competitive!

Here is how we did last week:

  • Best Day's Attendance: Wednesday - 97.5%

  • Whole School Weekly Attendance: 96.7%

  • Trust Leader board: We are currently in 11th place! Let's see if we can climb even higher next week.

  • Attendance Champions: Huge congratulations to 3CBa for having the highest attendance this week with 100% followed closely by 5CC & 5JBC at 99.5% - these classes have earned an extra playtime!

Every day counts – let's keep this momentum going!

Did you know that 90% attendance sounds great, but it actually means a child misses 4 full weeks of school a year?

That adds up to missing over 100 lessons, making it much harder to keep up with reading, maths, and time with friends!

School Council

Our school councillors met for their first meeting of the year this week! They assigned roles, discussed ways to market our school, reviewed our approach to attendance, and explored further opportunities for community engagement. They thoroughly enjoyed the session and had plenty of great ideas to share. We cannot wait to hear more and watch their progress throughout the year.

Please meet our amazing councillors:

  • Year 3: Cassius and Julian

  • Year 4: Mercy and Lincoln

  • Year 5: Brodie, Ella, and Charlie

  • Year 6: Poppy, Gift, and Louis

Keep a close eye on the newsletter—moving forward, our councillors may write their own section or even take over a full edition!
