Welcome from Co-op Academy Grove

We hope you enjoyed reading our very first newsletter last week—welcome to edition two!

To begin, I would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff, children, and parents who supported our breakfast provision this week. It was a truly wonderful week! While things return to normal next week, we would love to see lots of children continuing to attend and enjoy breakfast with us.

Looking ahead, next week is an incredibly busy and exciting time for Year 6 as we launch our very first World of Work week. The children will have the fantastic opportunity to visit our careers fair, and they may even get to experience a real interview themselves. How exciting!

Succeed Together

At Co-op Academy Grove, we are incredibly proud of how hard our children work!

A big shout-out to our year 6 children. This week, their writing books were externally moderated by the Local Authority. 15 children's books were moderated, and the majority of judgements were agreed; one child was moved up to greater depth standard! What amazing Year 6 writers we have. Thank you to their fantastic teachers too – what an amazing achievement!

Also, our boys' swimming team came joint 2nd this week, competing against other local schools. Our team consisted of James L (Y4), James D (Y4), Oak (Y4), DJ-Maverick (Y5), Braydon (Y5), Haroon (Y5) and Wisdom (Y6) – Well done boys! We look forward to seeing how well our girls' do next week.

Finally, our Y5 cricket team came second this week. We are just waiting to hear if they are going to represent the Trust. Well done to Ismail (5PB), Ashton (5CC), Tommy (5PB), Haroon (5PB), Reggie (5PB), Alexandra H (5PB), Benny (5CC), Aaron (5CB) and Louis (5JBC).

Uniform update

From September, we will be moving to our brand-new school uniform – how exciting!

Starting in the new school year, all children will wear a white polo shirt and a purple Co-op Academy Grove sweatshirt, paired with grey trousers or a skirt and black shoes/trainers. Please note that blazers, shirts, ties, and kilts will no longer be part of our daily uniform.

To support our families with this transition, every child will receive one FREE jumper. More details regarding how to collect yours will be communicated shortly.

Our new PE kit will consist of plain black trousers/joggers and a plain black jumper, worn with a purple Co-op Academy Grove T-shirt and plain black trainers.

Our New Reading Vending Machine is Here!

We are absolutely thrilled to unveil our brand new Reading Vending Machine at Co-op Academy Grove!

As you know, we love celebrating children's reading progress and tracking children's progress towards Word Millionaire status.

We will be stocking the machine full of exciting book titles very soon – I wonder who our next Word Millionaire will be?

This week we have awarded the following certificates in assembly ...

250,000 words: Harper-Leigh (5PB), Charlie P (5PB), Poppie R (5PB) and Hooria (5PB).

1 million words: Cian (6CPo), Keira (6CPo) and Haroon (5PB) – who will be the first children to use our new vending machine, once it is fully stocked. How exciting!

Attendance matters

Unfortunately, our overall attendance at Co-op Academy Grove has slipped a little lately – but we know we can do better!

To get back on track, we are launching an exciting, class-based World Cup Attendance Incentive!

Ask your teacher for the details this week. Which class will 'score' the most stickers? Let the games begin!

Here is how we did last week:

  • Best Day's Attendance: Thursday 95.5%

  • Whole School Weekly Attendance: 93.4% - this has dropped even lower tahn last week! Let's try even better next week!

  • Trust Leaderboard: We are currently in 5th place! Let's see if we can climb even higher next week.

  • Attendance Champions: Huge congratulations to 3BG for having the highest attendance this week with 99.6% followed by 5CC at 96.2% - both classes have earned an extra playtime!

Every day counts – let's keep improving rather than declining!

Did you know?

90% attendance sounds great, but it actually means a child misses half a day of school every week – equating to roughly four full weeks of lessons, or about 100 missed lessons, over the school year.

Screensafe - E-safety

Thank you to the parents who joined us for our Screensafe session with Anna Sarjatson - we hope you found it useful!

For anyone who missed it, you can catch up using this link: Co-Op Grove - Online Safety Parent Talk – June 2026.

Do you really want your children to know more than you about online games and apps? Have a look at the video to stay one step ahead!
